How to build a website

"How do I build a website?" is a very common question these days. The reason is because the Internet is growing in such speed that everybody wants to have their own website and be a part of this growing phenomena. People hear that some are making millions every day on the web and that even regular people make thousands per day by just having a website. And it seems pretty simple... but is it really that simple? Of course not but it isn't hard either.

To build a website today you will only need:

1. A computer

2. Internet

3. And about 10$ per year + 5$ per month to spend.

The 5$ per month is then again for the hosting of your website. Hosting packages are also sold by companies like Godaddy. What they actually do is that they rent you space on their servers (servers are physically existing large machines filled with data) in exchange for about 5$ per month. 5$ per month is of course the smallest hosting package which doesn't give you so much space. Bigger websites pay everything from a hundred dollars per month to millions of dollars per day (it's mostly websites like Google, Yahoo and Youtube who pay that much).

So when you have got yourself a domain name and you've got some space on someones server the next thing to do is build your website. Now here you can use software's like Adobe Dreamweaver, but here you need skills. You must be able to write the web page in HTML, CSS, XML or whatever so called "language" you wish to use. The reason I call them "languages" is because they are actually codes that are read by browsers (Internet Explorer, Netscape, Firefox) and then the browsers show you the content as websites.

This is very hard to learn by yourself so most people just pay someone to do this for you. Now you can do that or you can use an other way too.

The other way to go is to use a site builder. These are software's that are here to make it as easy as possible for you to get your website up. You won't need any coding and it's really just pushing a few buttons, dragging a few boxes from here to there and writing some text. And also most of these site builder companies makes the buying of a domain and hosting very easy for you. It often goes like this:

1. You register and pay about 5-20% per month.

2. You get hosting and a domain name included with the subscription fee (the hosting is often comes automatically when you subscribe so you wont have to worry about that).

3. You get ready made designs that you can then easily customize to look like you want them to.

4. You choose a domain name for your website. This is also simplified a lot for you if you use a company like this.

5. And they keep your website up for the 5-20$ you pay them per month.

So it's safe to say that it's a lot easier this way.
